Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
